A Beacon to be yourself.

Speaker • Author • Advocate

Amanda knows herself to be three things: fun, kind, and no BS. After decades of people-pleasing and shrinking for the sake of making others feel better, she’s finally come into her own (can one be considered a late-bloomer at the age of 40?). With Amanda, what you see is what you get. Unwilling to settle for boring small talk, she asks curiosity questions to most people with whom she interacts. Unless you look real grumpy. Then she’ll avoid you.

Amanda is a deep work in progress: she’s slowly learning to be less judgmental of herself and more accepting of her flaws and sometimes-asshole-ish tendencies (and everything wonderful about herself, too…which can be harder to accept). She’s found that by (mostly) accepting herself, she’s able to (mostly) accept others as well - whether it be at home, at work, in speaking and facilitating, or on random airplanes for random trips. The result? She knows that when she is fully being herself, magic happens in the form of opportunities, jaw-dropping chance encounters, and an ever-expanding network of beautiful connections with people across North America and beyond - including you! And that is her hope for you too: to dive into the sensation of fully being yourself in any given moment, so you can emerge refreshed, whole, and at peace. With a side of fun. Can’t forget the fun!

Get to know me more

I live in St. Brieux, Saskatchewan, Canada. I am married to the kindest man I’ve ever met - Curtis - and he has four sons who I help raise. I own two businesses (Alcheme and 1st Choice Graphics Inc). I LOVE cats and dogs; my younger self would be pumped to know I am surrounded by three cats and one dog on the daily.

My core values are kindness, fun, and no BS; this is how I’ve lived my life over the last four decades. I didn’t realize how ingrained these values are in me until I went to a self-development workshop over 10 years ago and identified the words: kindness, fun, and no BS. If you’d like to learn more about my perspective on these, I subtly (and not-so-subtly) weave these core values throughout my blog posts.

I believe that we as humans are better together. With four sisters I grew up knowing that “many hands make light work,” as we weeded and watered trees, planted and harvested our garden, or comforted each other through our heartaches. Now as a 40-year-old who experiences occasional exhaustion and burnout, I often isolate myself by crawling into a cave (AKA my cabin) for periods of time. It’s only when I’m on my 30th episode of Love Island USA that I start to remember to reach out and connect with my people, for it is those interactions - as much as it can be exhausting to shower and actually leave the house - that heal me faster than my isolation. My people help me pull my head out of my ass in the kindest and gentlest way possible (with lots of metaphorical lube).

In my writing, I weave together sensory descriptions, emotion, swearing, and sometimes mentally jarring examples (ie. the point above about metaphorical lube). You might like it, you might not, and that’s okay. If you don’t like it, we’re not meant to be! And that’s okay too.

I believe that we are everything. We have the capacity to be everything: kind, cruel, welcoming, guarded, open, closed, curious, stubborn…the list goes on and on. At any given moment, we get to choose who we be. We have the choice to choose.

And while there is power in words, I believe there is incredible power in energy. The subtle knowing and perceiving. Knowledge of energy is true power. It’s my intention that through every interaction you have with me, you feel my energy of kindness, inclusivity, and full-out fun.

On The Blog

Through this blog, I share my personal thoughts, learnings, and growth experiences, which include more deeply personal aspects of me that aren’t necessarily reflected in my two businesses. In sharing my awkward, hilarious, and humbling experiences in parenting, mental health, relationships (and so much more), I hope I encourage you to be fully yourself too.

What happens when you make all the "responsible" choices, and you still feel like a miserable failure? For Grounded Goodness founder, Amanda Perrot, the answer is to get outta town. She crammed her business into a Subaru nicknamed Vladamir to spend 47 days discovering her home province, and what life could look like after her marriage failed. It started as a way to see new parts of Saskatchewan and sell some stuff along the way, but seven weeks later she'd learned more about herself and the power of community than she ever expected. Amanda offers a glimpse of hope for women who know they would be happier if they left their marriage but don’t have an obvious or clear reason to point to when they explain why they want a divorce. This is a first-hand story of transformation that reassures us of the goodness and positivity that can come out of making the terrifying leap back into single life, and inspired to have our own difficult conversations. This is a story for every woman who is tired of questioning herself and wants the unvarnished truth of what happens when we learn to: honour ourselves; be confident about what we want and need; commit to our own happiness; stop beating ourselves up; and, let our intuition take the lead.

Praise for 47 days
